The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning in Oman has now made it legal for foreigners to purchase property in the country. Until until, only integrated tourism complexes were authorised to sell properties to expatriates in Oman (ITCs).
Expatriates can only acquire houses with a minimum value of OMR 250,000 or OMR 500,000, according to an official order issued by the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaily.
Only residential properties are available to expatriates in the first category. Following the completion of the acquisition, they will be granted second-class residency. Expats can buy residential, commercial, and industrial properties under this category, and they will be given first-class residency.
