Chopping will never be the same. A German chemical company just unveiled a “tearless onion” after more than 30 years of breeding.
It’s called the Sunion. The novel variety, developed by BASF’s vegetable seeds business, hits supermarket shelves in Germany this month. It’s already on sale in Italy, U.K., U.S., France, Canada and Spain.
The Sunion’s anti-tear-jerker properties aren’t the only benefit. Like good wine, they also taste better as they age.
