Hackers are increasingly targeting Ukrainian military leaders and journalists to disseminate disinformation, according to Meta, Facebook’s parent company. Some Ukrainian Facebook accounts were hacked by hackers linked to the “Ghostwriter” operation, but Meta stated it wouldn’t name the victims to preserve their privacy.
At a virtual news conference, David Agranovich, director of global threat disruption at Meta, said, “We spotted attempts to target people on Facebook and publish YouTube videos depicting Ukrainian military as weak and surrendering to Russia.”
