Ford Wants To Return To Asia To Produce Electric Vehicles For Export. After announcing an exit from the Indian market in the middle of 2021, Ford appears to have changed its mind and is now planning its global electric strategy from outside of India.
Ford intends to produce electric vehicles in one of its India facilities, most likely the Sanand factory in Gujarat, with the intention of exporting 100 percent of the output.
“We appreciate the Indian government’s approval of Ford’s proposal under the PLI programme. “As Ford guides customers through the global electric-vehicle revolution, we’re looking into the prospect of employing an EV manufacturing factory in India as an export base,” the company said.
