Asia’s Top 20 Families Control $495 Billion

Asia’s 20 richest families have grown $33 billion richer since the end of 2020, according to the Billionaires Index, even as the pandemic shook the world for a second year.

The combined wealth of the region’s hyper-rich dynasties now exceeds $495 billion — a sum greater than the gross domestic product of Hong Kong or Singapore — with India’s Ambanis leading the way for the third year running.

The families behind two other Indian conglomerates also make their debut, along with the first Chinese family to appear in the ranking, which excludes first-generation fortunes.
