▫ The Android trojan called ‘Brata’ empties bank accounts across the globe. First discovered in 2019, the malware appears to have received an update to continue ripping off its victims.
▫ Brata’s new iteration drains victims’ bank accounts and activates a kill switch that performs a factory reset of their devices, leaving no trace behind.
▫ The malware spreads via Google Play and third-party marketplaces. It can also spread through other parts of your Android smartphone that appear harmless – push notifications from infected websites, sponsored Google linked, WhatsApp and SMS messages.
